What does 'melanin boosting' in a suntan oil actually mean?
Since the launch of Melanoboost Peptide Sun Tanning Oil, the sun tanning industry has been introduced to a new term 'melanin boosting' which has set the benchmark for the future of sun-tanning and sent the industry into overdrive.
This is no surprise to us here at Melanoboost HQ as the technology has taken us years to develop and perfect, and the results speak volumes!
With 'melanin boosting' claims now jumping out from everywhere, it's important to know what 'melanin boosting' actually is so you can properly understand what your sun tanning oil is doing and if and how it is doing what is claimed.
Read on to find out how Melanoboost® has paved the way for faster, darker tanning through the use of peptides...
What is melanin?
Melanin is produced by cells called melanocytes, which are located in the the outermost layer of the skin. Melanin is the pigment that determines our skin colour; people with more melanin in their skin will have a darker skin tone, while people with less melanin will have lighter skin. When our skin is exposed to UV radiation, the melanocytes produce more melanin, which darkens the skin to protect it from sun damage.
How the Melanoboost Peptide Complex technology works...
Formulated exclusively for Melanoboost, our Complex is a unique combination of peptide actives with Octapeptide-5 at the core; a multitalented biomimetic peptide that is changing the way you tan in a way that only biomimetic technology allows – GAME CHANGING.
This blend of intelligent peptide actives is designed to boost melanin concentration in the skin in the lead up to UV exposure. Melanin is usually only produced when our skin is exposed to UV light, however the biomimetic peptides used by Melanoboost are designed to mimic this naturally occurring function without UV exposure.
The more abundant our melanin levels are before we head outdoors, the better prepared our skin is for exposure to sunlight in moderate amounts, and the better its ability to maximise tanning results with minimal sun exposure; this allows us to take a balanced approach to UV exposure to maximise benefit and minimise risk.
Tan faster, darker, smarter®
It is this use of PEPTIDES that differentiates Melanoboost® from other sun tanning oils, lotions and creams, and what makes its performance so ground breaking - Accelerated tanning at its best!
Apply Melanoboost Peptide Sun Tanning Oil before UV exposure to boost melanin levels, strengthen your skin’s natural photo-protection, and activate the tanning process. Then use it during short bursts of UV exposure to accelerate tanning results. Just 15 minutes is all it takes to start seeing the difference Melanoboost makes.
As everyone tans differently, results will differ from person to person. The depth and darkness you can achieve will rely on your individual skin tone and natural sun tanning ability.
We do of course always recommend the use of sunscreen when spending any time in the sun. Apply sunscreen after you have applied your Melanoboost® Peptide Sun Tanning Oil.
How does Melanoboost compare to other oils?
Regular sun tan oils like coconut oil don't contain any significant active ingredients therefore don't boost melanin. When you apply regular coconut oil and lay in the sun for extended periods, it is the UV from the sun that stimulates melanin synthesis, not the oil. Coconut oils may benefit the skin with moisturising properties, but don't actually help to darken your tan. Prolonged sun exposure is also never advisable.
If you're serious about tanning and care about skin health, then it's time to take a balanced approach to UV exposure. Minimum Sun - Maximum tan®
